Feeling stressed and anxious? Find it's impacting all aspects of your life, from the quality of your sleep to your relationships, sex life and work? You're not alone - anxiety is a common symptom of the menopause transition and can happen to anyone, including those who’ve never experienced mental health difficulties before. Did you know that harnessing the power of our breath and mindfulness can help ease anxiety and aid sleep?

In this enlightening webinar My Menopause Centre’s co-founder, Helen Normoyle, spoke to Melike Hussein, a Breathwork and Mindfulness Coach Specialising in Menopause and a Qualified Nurse:

  • Malika shared her inspiring journey from nurse to breathwork and mindfulness coach, overcoming burnout and chronic anxiety along the way
  • She and Helen discussed what mindfulness is and how it can contribute to improved mental and physical wellbeing
  • Melike explained how our breathing impacts our physiology and mind-body balance and helped us recognise our breathing pattern and what this means
  • She also took us through the different types of breathing techniques and the benefits of each in managing stress, anxiety and enhancing sleep and shared her tips for integrating mindfulness and breathwork into our daily life

Melike also guided us through a breathwork exercise which left us all feeling incredibly relaxed.

She is also a Qualified Nurse, with years of medical training and experience of working in a busy city hospital.

Helen co-founded My Menopause Centre with her good friend, Dr Clare Spencer. She is on a mission to raise awareness of menopause and help empower women with the knowledge they need to embrace this new chapter and thrive. Helen is particularly passionate about supporting women in the workplace and helping employers understand the benefits of having a positive menopause policy. Helen has held Chief Marketing Officer roles in a range of sectors with Boots, the BBC, DFS and Countrywide. She has also worked in broadcast and telecoms regulation at Ofcom and in the mobile technology sector with Motorola.
