Dr Cat is an experienced GP and menopause specialist. She qualified in medicine from University College London before which she was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science from King’s College, London. She spent her early career living and working in the hustle and bustle of London before she was drawn back to her roots in the West Midlands where she commenced GP training and found her passion – women’s health.

What happens after your initial appointment with our menopause expert

Personalised treatment plan

During your 45-minute consultation, you and your doctor will agree the treatment plan that is best for you, we don’t believe that menopause care is one size-fits-all. The doctor will then write up your personalised treatment plan and send it to you after the appointment.

A prescription

If we recommend medication as part of your treatment plan:

  • You can return to your NHS doctor with any treatment plans provided by My Menopause Centre and request a NHS prescription.
  • You can request that your prescription be handled by our private pharmacy partner (a pharmacy service that delivers straight to your door). They will send a text message on the same day the prescription has been issued to arrange payment. Once payment has been received, they will post your medication directly to you. Costs for medicines are not covered by The AA.

Blood tests

If a blood test is recommended by your doctor, this will be taken care of by Medichecks. During your appointment, you and your doctor will discuss whether you’d like the blood test to be:

  • Self-administered at home
  • Administered by a nurse at home
  • Administered by a nurse at a Medichecks clinic

Once payment has been received for the blood test, Medichecks will be in touch with you directly to make the arrangements.

Costs for blood tests are not covered by The AA.

Follow-up consultation

We recommend a three-month follow-up after your initial consultation and at least annually thereafter (you can, of course, always come back sooner if you like). This is so your doctor can review your progress and symptoms with you, and make any necessary adjustments to your plan. Our follow-up consultations last 25 minutes and one follow-up appointment is funded by The AA within a 12-month period.
