ADHD (Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) is a hot topic right now. It affects 3-4% of both men and women, some who were diagnosed in childhood, others as adults. Either way, going through the menopause with ADHD can be a perfect storm – symptoms can overlap, making for a challenging time. But it need not be this way.
So join Dr Clare Spencer as she discusses the symptoms, diagnosis and management of ADHD with Dr Rob Baskind, a psychiatrist with a wealth of experience working in adult ADHD and mental health care.
They’ll discuss many facets of this important conversation including how the menopause transition impacts women with ADHD, discovering you have ADHD later in life as well as the treatment options available.
Dr Clare is a registered menopause specialist and an NHS GP. She qualified from Cambridge University and holds Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners. She initially trained in obstetrics and gynaecology where she gained a Doctor of Medicine for research in fetomaternal medicine. She is also a member of the British Menopause Society (BMS) Medical Advisory Committee and a BMS menopause trainer.
Rob has been a consultant psychiatrist since 2008. He has a wealth of experience working in community mental health, acute day hospitals and prison mental health. Rob has provided training and education nationally about ADHD to health professionals and criminal justice staff particularly, and also contributed to several mainstream media articles and interviews about ADHD, He has also been involved in multicentre research.
Rob continued to be very passionate about raising awareness, educating and exploring new and innovative interventions and ways of working in ADHD.
